SIRE has worked with VMware products since 2004 enabling us to deliver more value to our users within their existing physical computer hardware for both their public and private cloud environments. Virtualising our customers estates has enabled efficient utilization of computer hardware which has in turn enabled a greater return on our customer’s hardware investments.
We have experience in performance tuning within VM environments with specific consideration around storage and networking requirements. Working with our clients, SIRE have developed highly available solutions and deployed virtual desktop environments ideal for the homeworker and a fragmented workforce during the Coronavirus lockdown period.
Simply put, VMware are mature developer of virtualisation software suitable for any enterprise environment. VMware’s virtualisation products are now a crucial part of many enterprise IT infrastructures.
Virtualisation software creates an abstraction layer over computer hardware that allows the hardware elements of a single computer— processors, memory, storage, and more— to be divided into multiple virtual computers, commonly called virtual machines (VMs). Each virtual machine runs its own operating system (OS) and behaves like an independent computer, even though it is running on a portion of the actual underlying computer hardware.
SIRE has worked with Microsoft since our foundation in 1993. Virtualising with Microsoft Hyper-V allows customers to maximise Microsoft licensing opportunities. Our certified engineers are fully competent with the technology and understand the impact of technology changes to Microsoft licensing and the various licensing procurement and ownership options.

Hyper-V is Microsoft’s hardware virtualisation product. Hyper-V lets you create and run a software version of a computer, called a virtual machine. Each virtual machine acts like a complete computer, running an operating system and programs. When you need computing resources, virtual machines give you more flexibility, help save time and money, and are a more efficient way to use hardware than just running one operating system on physical hardware.
Hyper-V runs each virtual machine in its own isolated space, which means you can run more than one virtual machine on the same hardware at the same time. You might want to do this to avoid problems such as a crash affecting the other workloads, or to give different people, groups or services access to different systems. As an accredited and certified Microsoft Partner, SIRE provides best practice advice on how to run different workloads securely within your infrastructure.
Allowing you to run multiple applications and operating systems as virtual machines, Microsoft’s Hyper-V is specifically tailored for hardware virtualisation making it easy to create and remove different operating systems from one easy to navigate platform.
OpenStack is an open source software which SIRE have selected for the deployment and management of our cloud infrastructure as a service (IaaS) platform. OpenStack supports both our private and public cloud deployments. It fulfils two main requirements of the cloud: massive scalability and flexibility of implementation.
OpenStack is highly configurable: our customers can choose whether or not to implement several services offered by the OpenStack platform. The configuration of each component is determined by SIRE and our customers and is easily made through the application programming interface (API) the tool provides.
Therefore, there are many different ways to use OpenStack, which makes it a flexible tool that is able to work alongside a multitude of other software applications. Using the RedHat OpenStack, SIRE has the ability to deploy OpenStack infrastructures with enterprise class design, implementation and support in mind.
To summarise, when managed through a datacenter, OpenStack is a cloud operating system that allows your business to operate all your vital applications, networks and storage capacity through a simple, yet effective interface dashboard.
