Infrastructure as a Service

Let SIRE help you build your Infrastructure

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), also known as Hardware as a Service, is a provision model in which an organisation outsources the equipment used to support business operations, including storage, hardware, servers and networking components. The service provider owns the equipment and is responsible for its housing, running costs and maintenance. The client typically pays on a per-use or consumption basis.

Should my business use Infrastructure as a Service?

There are many benefits to implementing an Infrastructure as a Service model. Based on our experience, some characteristics of organisations that see results with IaaS include:

  • Small to mid-sized organisations
  • Organisations that want to virtualise their IT Infrastructure
  • Organisations who want a standard, linear, enterprise level infrastructure without the capital expenditure

When should my business think about using IaaS?

Organisations look at IaaS when:

They are close to a technology or server investment

They lack internal IT staff or need to redeploy staff for business projects

There is no more physical space for hardware

They need to reduce their carbon footprint

What are the benefits of using Infrastructure as a Service?

  • Avoid a large capital expenditure – you only pay on a per use basis
  • Gain access to Enterprise technologies; if your business is small you may not be in a position to invest in the necessary IT infrastructure
  • A lack of physical office space to host your infrastructure means many businesses choose to outsource instead
  • Fear of data loss – A service provider will back up your data so you don’t have to worry
  • Protect the data from security concerns
  • Predictable monthly costs
  • Infrastructure as a Service removes the stress of managing IT in house which means you can concentrate on your core business model instead
