Our senior management team sets the standards, boasting more than 100 years collective industry experience!

Keeping pace with technical innovations in our fast-moving sector is vital; SIRE is committed to continued professional development and an ongoing program of product and service training for all staff.

At every level within SIRE, our staff is focused on helping businesses work more efficiently, more effectively, more securely and more profitably by utilising technology to continually improve systems and processes.

Each member of staff is vetted to BS7858:2012 standard, our  technical experts are certified on IBM, Microsoft, Linux and VMware products.

Having held senior technical and sales positions with NCR and Altos Computers for many years, I decided to set the business up with a partner in 1993. Using my broad experience and industry knowledge, my vision has been instrumental in developing SIRE over nearly two decades so that it has become a market leader in delivering innovative IT solutions. Today, as Chairman, I oversee the company's strategic direction, manage key relationships and use my years of extensive experience to guide and mentor the team.

Russell Cook - Managing Director | SIRE Technology

Russell has held a range of ‘hands-on’, technical-focused positions in the IT industry - including Special Projects Leader with TEAM Systems (now part of Mysis plc). He joined SIRE as Technical Director in 1995 and then took on the role of Managing Director in 2012. Under Russell's leadership, the SIRE team is dedicated to developing systems, business workflows, and solutions for clients to minimise failures and maximise end user productivity, both inside and outside of the cloud environment. Russell was instrumental in the company achieving ISO9001:2008 accreditation and continued adherence to this standard ensures SIRE delivers the highest quality service to clients.

Michael Plant Technical Director

I joined SIRE in 1996 and have been the Technical Director since 2007. My technical career started off as a field service engineer, which meant I gained invaluable experience working on a range of products including IBM, HP, Siemens, Fortune, Altos and Acer. During my time at SIRE, I have managed server infrastructure projects with budgets in excess of £1m, designed and developed an electronic finance workflow process from the ground up and worked with blue-chip clients to develop sophisticated CRM systems. One of the strongest drives for me personally is the continuous assessment of technology that will allow us to continue to build our clients' solutions that will meet tomorrow's data needs.

I have always been particularly fascinated by computers, so I studied IT at college and gained a BSc(Hons) degree in Business Information Systems. I started my career in a computer services company based in Dorset, then moved on to a luxury retail company based in London W1 where I operated their IT for the group business with offices in London, New York and Italy. I've come to SIRE from Hewlett Packard (HP), where I provided design and support for large enterprise clients around HP hardware and Microsoft technologies. In the almost 10 years I was there, I gained a lot of experience and knowledge about running enterprise systems. I hope to learn new skills and new cutting edge technologies at SIRE and to add my existing experience to complement the technical team.

Left school with a few ‘O’ levels and fell into computing really. I started off writing pseudo-assembler code for machines that were like glorified calculators, complete with 12” floppy disk cabinets. Then the first of the PCs started to come through (not IBM yet), a firm called Sirius, then ACT Apricots. I developed programs using Basic for the estimating department. These windows were designed for sky-scrapers, so some of the contracts were for millions of pounds. In about 1989 I was made redundant but found a job straight away with a software house called TMB which were an award winning IBM business partner specialising in bespoke software solutions. I had 7 happy years here. In 1994 I started working for what is now Tui Travel Plc. Sunsail were using TMB as a software house at the time and I was the main developer for their systems. The time came that the Sunsail IT department needed an in-house resource and asked me if I wanted to join, so I did. I went to night school at this point to get an ONC in computer studies as I thought it was about time I became properly qualified. In April 2014 the company relocated to Surbiton and I took the opportunity of redundancy and started working for SIRE!

I joined the IT industry as a Systems Engineer at Azlan in Wokingham working my way into the sales force and quickly moving to the reseller land at IT Partnerships in Reading as a Compaq and IBM supplier to some large accounts in the Telecoms and Public Transport sectors. I later took a Sales Manager role at Elcom IT in Basingstoke and then joined CAE Technology Services as their Reading and Bracknell offices Sales Manager where I started the eGame business platform and have not looked back. SIRE took me onboard to help them in their own new ventures down in Gibraltar and to further develop their UK customer business relationships. I must add that my joining SIRE has been the best career move I have ever taken; the team at SIRE are great to work with and we all work together to ensure our customers receive the very best we can deliver as a team and business.

I previously worked at an IT firm offering Managed Services form desktop support to infrastructure management based in London. I started as a 1st line technician when the company was just a year old and worked there for 12 years ending as a 3rd line technician. After having travelled into and out of London, I felt it was time to make the change and get a work and home life balance.

My job at SIRE is part of the Technical Support Team, I joined in October 2013 and am a qualified Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA). I gained this via an apprenticeship scheme with SIRE. I have had one previous job which was at Sports Direct where I would work on tills and around the store helping customers with anything and everything I can, which I also aim to do at SIRE.

In November 2011 I joined SIRE as Administrator. I soon started to get involved in various areas of the business and was appointed to Office Manager in March 2013. My work is very varied. I, for instance, help the Directors look after the office and a great team of people, I oversee the Order Fulfilment Team and Customer Service, manage our ISO9001 accreditation and I am always involved in a project or two. I am proud to be part of the SIRE team and there are exciting times ahead for us.

I have spent the last 35 years in telecoms and IT working both in engineering and in customer facing roles with companies such as BT, Vodafone, PartyGaming and Wonga. I have been a manager and also a project manager for roles in networks, data centres and data migrations. I have also worked in e-commerce environments where customer service means that the service needs to be available 24x7 and more recently, I have been looking at “cloud first strategy”. I have always found that the more interesting roles have been with small or start-up companies and this is what attracted me to SIRE.

I have been working for SIRE Technology since November of 2016 where I’ve brought with me 20+ year’s experience in various IT fields. My previous employers include the likes of Nationwide BS, Reed Elsevier & most recently Pearson Plc, where I’ve spent the last 12 years as a hybrid systems engineer covering all aspects of Windows and Linux operating system administration within physical & virtual cloud server estates across EMEA. In parallel to this role I was also given the challenging duty of managing and maintaining Pearson’s storage & data protection solutions at both it’s legacy and cloud based data centres.

I installed Ubuntu on my laptop around four years ago and from that I developed an interest in Linux. Having already recently changed career from music to education, computing was only a hobby for me. However, earlier this year I decided that I would like to make Linux my career and started studying for the Red Hat Certified System Administrator qualification. I left my teaching post in the Summer and did some work experience in an IT department in a music college, and a short time later secured a job with SIRE as a technical support engineer specialising in Linux. I also achieved my RHCSA qualification and am looking forward to gaining more knowledge and furthering my career with the company.

Upon completion of my 'A' levels in Computing and Electronics, I pursued my career in IT as an apprentice. I started working in telecoms on the Tech Support Service Desk for an ISP, 5G Communications, whilst training in Desktop Support to gain Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) certification. After having completed my apprenticeship with 5G, I knew I wanted to move into a more technical role and joining SIRE has provided me the best opportunity to further my career.
